mabanua has released his new EP, Minds & Colors, today, Wednesday, March 26th.
This album contains five songs, including the vocalist Orono of Superorganism, “Coffee Excess,” featuring artist Lennon, who is close to her, Nicholas Ryan Gant, who is active in chorus for Mariah Carey and Childish Gambino, and his musical companion Suede Jury, “On Everything,” a collaboration with Amiide and Jyodan unit Otomodatchi, and the jazzy, lo-fi instrumental song “Conflicting,” released in February this year, as well as a new song “All Right.”
“All Right” is the first song he’s been vocal since his third album “Blurred” released in 2018. He himself commented: “I remember I started making it one night about a year ago, when I heard a melody in my head just before I fell asleep, and before I forgot, I hurriedly hummed my iPhone. As the world moves so rapidly, I tend to lose sight of the closest happiness. It’s the worst thing to forget to live enjoying the present. And I thought it all started with making the people close to me happy. That’s how I made it a song.”
Mabanua works as a drummer, beatmaker and producer, but the song, which sheds light on the aspect of “singer,” is a love song in a broad sense that fills the heart with the message of love written entirely in English lyrics and Mabanua’s soft singing voice. In a modern society that is moving rapidly, this song brings you back to the flow, and lives without losing sight of the important things, and reminds you of the essential parts of life, both simple and difficult.
Additionally, each of the artworks of Orono’s pre-single singles is a piece of a puzzle, and this EP created a large piece. The smallest details are decorated with different designs from the single artwork, making it a gimmick-filled work that is typical of Orono.
[mabanua comments]
🥁Maybe this is the most widely and colorful piece in the history of Mabanua, with great care and attention to detail.
The beats and melody have been adjusted many times, and there are many sounds that were inspired by the jackets designed by Orono.
From instrumentals to featured songs to songs you sing, this EP can be used as a business card for the current Mabanua.
