The joint project “Know The World -Awich Global Education Project – (Studying abroad in Atlanta & Studying Across the Atlanta and Town Centre),” will be held for the second consecutive year, with HelloWorld Inc., a general incorporated association that aims to realize a diverse society starting from international exchanges with Awich and HelloWorld (HelloWorld, Okinawa City, Okinawa Prefecture).
This project was launched as an opportunity for young Okinawans to meet the world and open up their own lives, with Awich’s desire to contribute to solving the issues of education in Okinawa, one of the social issues in Okinawa’s hometown, in order to solve the problems of poverty and experiential disparities for children.
We offer free homestay experiences at foreigners in Okinawa, “Machinaka Study Abroad,” free of charge to 100 high school students, aged 22, who are in poverty. After studying abroad in Machinaka, three people will receive a short-term study abroad in Atlanta, USA, which is Awich’s own study abroad destination. Through experiences of international exchange and studying abroad, we aim to create an opportunity to think about our own lives and cultivate a spirit of “transforming adversity into our own strengths.”
In addition, this year, the second year will be held, three Atlanta students will be invited to Okinawa. The aim is to stimulate each other through interactions, young people from Okinawa and Atlanta who Awich himself says are in similar circumstances, and gain a new perspective.

This project, Know The world, was launched with the concept of transforming the adversity that you have in your own strengths. I think the environment in our hometown of Okinawa is truly complex and is a place where a variety of cultures, different thoughts, ways of thinking, and values are mixed together. However, that’s what you can do about studying abroad in town. We ask you to have a short-term intercultural exchange at foreign families living on the Okinawa island. After that, the three people who passed the selection process will receive a short-term study abroad experience in Atlanta, the town where I first lived when I was a teenager.
The word Know The World of course also includes the meaning of knowing the world, but it also includes the meaning of knowing how you feel after learning about the world. Understand how you feel through communication with people with different languages and backgrounds, and express your feelings by expressing them, and then continue to take action by exchanging various ways of thinking with others. I hope that I can create such a cycle that leads to my own growth.
I hope this project will be valuable to everyone. Always be curious and actively learn about what you want to learn.
