This year’s grand prize and special prize for the Music Awards “APPLE VINEGAR -Music Award-” have been announced.
Founded by Goto Masafumi (ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION), this award is the award for albums released by up-and-coming musicians. Based on the Akutagawa Prize in the literary world, the program started in 2018 with the hope that by creating a system in which musicians can evaluate works they have released in the early years of their careers, not just their debut albums, and receiving prize money to support future productions, the program was launched in 2018 with the hope that they could support young musicians. It also conveys the desire to help listeners discover new music.
The eighth year’s grand prize winners have been decided to be “The Buffet” and “Dos Atomos” (Dos Monos). Four special prizes were selected by Inoue Sonoko, Marucoporoporo, Nikon, and Matsunaga Takuma.

This is the first time a band/group won the grand prize, not a solo artist. This year, we also held a long and thorough discussion about the appeal of the work, sound production, listening location, and more, from the perspectives of each selection committee, who are deeply involved in music.

In addition to Goto Masafumi himself, a total of 1.3 million prizes will be given to sponsorship funds from seven companies in addition to individuals who agree with the purpose of the award, as well as individuals who agree with the purpose of the award, and seven companies. As a result of discussions, two grand prizes, MONO NO AWARE and Dos Monos, will be given 450,000 yen each, and 100,000 yen each to the special prize winners Inoue Sonoko, marucoporoporo, Nikon, and Matsunaga Takuma.
