The animated film “The Unknown Life” will be released nationwide from tomorrow, Friday, May 16th, at Shinjuku Musashinokan in Tokyo and other locations.
“Anonymous Life” is Suzuki Tatsuya, who has won numerous awards at independent film festivals in Japan, including Pia Film Festival, Shimokitazawa Film Festival, and more, and has spent just a year and a half drawing of the short animation “MAHOROBA” (produced in 2021), which he began making on his own as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Suzuki Tatsuya has consistently depicted the “ways of those living in an absurd world” with cynical depictions of “the lives of those living in an absurd world” in “MAHOROBA,” and the following “Lawless Love” focuses on the relationship between men and women who are out of nowhere, and also focuses on indiscriminate stabbing incidents that occurred in real life.
“The Unknown Life” begins with a lonely boy who is a bullied child living in Sendai, following his father’s back and aiming to become an idol. The story depicts the 100-year turbulent life of the protagonist, who was called by many names from birth to death, including derogatory names and stage names, in total, in 10 chapters, against the backdrop of the numerous sensational social issues we face right now, including the elderly drivers, the dark side of the entertainment industry, the unknown deaths of young people, and the war. The script is not prepared, and the touch and color change with each chapter, making it a versatile animation work that will not bore viewers.
The main character was voiced by rapper ACE COOL, which was the director’s wish. This was his first appearance in a film and his first attempt at voice acting, but despite his lack of dialogue, he delicately expressed the main character’s emotional fluctuations and sadness.

The cast members of different generations and fields, from talented actors such as Tanaka Ito, Uno Shohei, Hoso Tsubaki, Jeong Reimi, Kamataki Eri, Nishino Ryotaro (Synchronicity), Nakajima Ayumu, Maikuma Katsuya, Ohashi Miho, and Tsuda Kanji, to freelance announcers and comedians. Although most of them have no experience as a voice actor, they resonated with the director’s solitary creation of works and his unique style.
A stage greeting will also be held at Shinjuku Musashinokan tomorrow, Friday, May 16th and Saturday, May 17th. Director Suzuki Tatsuya and other cast members, including ACE COOL, will take the stage. Also check it out.
