The collaboration single “Packed My Bags” by Sigma-T, Kubota and Rikuto Nagira was released on Wednesday, May 21st.
This work is co-composed by rapper Sigma-T, who works with the concept of “chill pop that suits your bed,” Japanese-American rapper Kubota, who lives in LA, and beatmaker/producer Rikuto Nagira, who is also known for his activities at lo-key design and shosha. The project was said to have started last year when Kubota performed a live performance in Japan, and Sigma-T directly offered to produce music. Since then, remote exchanges have been carried out between LA and Japan, resulting in collaboration that transnated borders.
On the jazzy and warm beats created by Rikuto Nagira, Kubota’s sharp rap and Sigma-T’s soft, mellow flow are intertwined comfortably, recreating a realistic sound image that looks like a live jazz band is in session. The theme of the lyrics is to “pack up your luggage and jump out and continue on your adventures.” This is a chill and emotional song that gently pushes the anxiety and expectations of your departure.
