Kitamura Tsubame releases new song "looping second" "The work I wanted to deliver before the solo live performance"

Kitamura Tsubame released her new single, “looping second,” today, Wednesday, May 28th.

This song is impressive with Kitamura Tsubame’s true essence and the meticulous chorus work. The soundscape, which focuses on airy singing voices and makes use of the spatial margins, is based on the genealogy of previous works such as “amaranthus” and “Secret”, but has a more advanced expression.

Also, as the title suggests, the entire song has a mental image that makes it seem like the time that should have been moving forward is looped over and over again at a certain moment. The frustration, discomfort, and even the faint hope that oozes there are depicted in sounds rather than words. By intuitively presenting abstract themes, this work quietly affects the listener’s inner self.

Kitamura himself handled everything from writing, composing, performing, recording and artwork, and mixing/mastering was done by Takesha Ayumu, who also teamed up for his first EP, 500mm. The vocal tracks were constructed by multi-layered chorus to form a sound image that would make you face the self. Furthermore, Kitamura himself adds the flute to the music, giving the song a soft swaying and atmosphere. The overall structure is deliberately not largely developed, but rather accumulating small changes within the same melody. Rather than explaining emotions, it evokes them through the image of sounds – this work has been developed with more precision in its expressive style.

In addition, a solo live performance of “vivid:W̃M̃” (read: Vivid Wave) will be held at Shibuya WWW, Tokyo on Saturday, June 7th. This series follows the first solo performance of “vivid:AM” held in January, and is likely to be a place where you can experience the sensation presented by “looping second” in the live space.

“In the 500mm on the first EP, I continue to play music like I trace the circles I drew,” said Kitamura. The series of works and live performances that follow, from “500mm” → “vivid:AM” → “looping second” → “vivid:WM” are said to be the trajectory of Kitamura Tsubame’s creative work, with the theme of a circular sense of time and the continuity of music.
