The collaboration single “VS” by PuniPuni Electric, Aquarium and Gimgigam was released today, Wednesday, May 28th.
This is a sharp yet addictive funk tune that depicts the relationship of “Friend and Enemy” that was first performed at a two-man live performance by aquarium Puni Puni Electric, held at Omotesando WALL & WALL in Tokyo in January this year. The mid-tempo beat with a mid-range groove is intertwined like each other’s voices, making it a duet song that transcends conflicts between everyday life and passion, words and voices, friendship and hostility.
Gimgagim has a wide range of drawers, including PuniPuni Denki, which uses different tunes and voices to create songs across genres, and has been an outstanding singer/trackmaker aquarium, which has been used as the theme song for the ending of the TV anime “BLEACH,” and funk and reggae, and has a different approach to each work. This is an exciting collaboration like “interspecies martial arts battles” that was created by the three parties who have the ability to produce songs themselves, combining different styles and perspectives.

I’ve been getting closer to Aquarium recently. I was able to even write songs with that momentum! I’m happy. The theme of active frenemies was revealed with the wonderful support of Gimgigam. I was crazy during the match, but once it’s done, it’s such a beloved collaboration. Please come and meet again.

The conversations with Puni-sama, full of playfulness and peace, and the creations are generally stimulating and encountering unknowns. The sessions can be held online, and it was a fruitful production where we were able to fully exchange each other’s “VS views” and literally enjoying ourselves while facing each other’s face-offs.

The singing voices of PuniPuni Denki and Aquarium give off an exquisite battle feel, and I can’t stop feeling excited and excited. The gorgeous horn and aggressive slap bass create a funky beat.
