Nenashi released his first EP, “TIME SLIP,” today, Wednesday, May 28th.
Nenashi has traveled across countries and traveled through various spaces as “rootless grass.” This work is also inspired by Nenashi’s eternal theme, “travel,” but this time, “travel” is not “space,” but “time.” It contains a total of five songs, including the pre-existing singles “STAY”, “LIME” and “I’m (Back To Love).”
The first song, “TIME SLIP (Intro), which is both the title and symbol of the EP, is divided into three parts, with the desire to move back and forth between 100 years ago and now. The intro is a completely different version of Louis Armstrong, which seems to be a package of trumpets that are emerging and 1920s blues, and then it changes to the latest R&B of the 2020s. Furthermore, the ending features early hip-hop, which was born about 50 years ago, and is an epic introduction that explodes Nenashi’s adventurous spirit.
He then tried out the tune of the lead song, “PERFECT,” which was played in 6/8th time. While wafting the pleasant scent of 1960s soul/R&B, the final transformation creates a ballad number that gives the impression of the flow of time, as if it were truly an expression of the journey of life.
