Primula, a Tokyo-based producer/DJ active both domestically and internationally, and SSW’s Maika Loubté will release a new collaboration song, “Deep Water (deep deep mix)”, on Wednesday, May 29th.
This song was released as a limited edition cassette last fall. It is a “deeply sensual” electronic music piece featuring a fresh synthesizer intro that makes you feel the arrival of summer and a fast-paced grimy beat, transporting listeners to a deep watery world where a sense of clarity and refreshingness coexist. A song that invites you. Along with the cobalt blue image, a fantastic world view reminiscent of Ryugu Castle and Mermaid Lagoon will be developed.
While Primula’s glitchy sound production has been elevated to pop, Maika Loubté’s lyrics depict the despair and frustration of living in modern times, contrary to this glittering world of sound. In particular, the phrase “You really see me, Kami-sama?” is said to express the realistic feeling of trying to catch a glimmer of light on a dark underwater dance floor.
The artwork features fish taken at fishing spots and aquariums that Primula visits as a hobby, moving around with graphics that twist underwater, further deepening the worldview of the song.
