Tokyo Shiokoji recomposes Bach’s “Invention” and holds a solo performance in six years

Tokyo Shiokoji’s first solo performance in six years, “Flow of Time “Recomposed: Bach’s Invention,” will be held at Goethe Institute Tokyo Hall on Sunday, September 14th.

Tokyo Shiokoji is an eight-member contemporary pop band that started in 2013, centered around Nukuda Taishi. Their third album, Goodbye, released in 2023, has been nominated for the Taiwanese music awards, The 14th Golden Indie Music Awards, and has expanded their activities both domestically and internationally.

“Flow of Time “Recomposed: Bach’s Invention”” will feature a song in which Tokyo Shiokoji recomposes Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Invention,” which is also popular as a piano practice piece around the world. The performance is a live performance that reminds us of the flow of time, and while taking into account the minimal combination of sounds created by Bach about 300 years ago, the melody played by each member and real-time visual production combine to create “Invention” over the years as a new band ensemble.

Tickets are now on sale. Early purchasers will also receive advance reservation benefits.
