Ginger Root completes 3rd album “SHINBANGUMI” after 4 years, first single released & MV released

Californian artist Ginger Root has announced that she will release her new album “SHINBANGUMI” in September. In addition, the first single “No Problems” was released at the same time as the music video.

Ginger Root, whose appearance at Fuji Rock last year is still fresh in my memory, is a project by multi-instrumentalist/producer/songwriter/visual artist Cameron Lew. He has collaborated with YeYe and HALFBY, directed the music video for CHAI, and has a close relationship with Japanese artists, as well as openly admitting that he is influenced by Japanese culture.

This is the group’s first album in four years and their third, and is a continuation of the EP “Nisemono” released in 2022. The music video for the first single, “No Problems,” which opens the album, depicts the beginning of that story.

The setting is 1987. Ginger Root was working as a contract music supervisor until one day she was fired. The music video depicts him starting up the media conglomerate “Ginger Root Production” in the face of this situation. Ginger Root herself says the following about this work, in which the music video plays an important role once again. “If you watch the music videos from the first to the eighth, the story unfolds in a way that rivals a traditional movie. It’s something I’ve always wanted to try.”

The album “SHINBANGUMI” will be released simultaneously worldwide as a Japanese CD and an LP for domestic distribution. The Japanese version CD comes with commentary/lyrics/translation, and also includes a bonus track.
