ONTHEΘRION, a hip-hop collective from Ota Ward, Tokyo, has released their new single “Delete” today, Saturday, July 5th.
ONTHEΘRION was formed in 2017, when GONGON, a former member of B-DASH, gathered together on the eve of the band’s breakup. GONGON unfortunately passed away on July 5th last year, but today, one year later, ONTHEΘRION’s first new single in two years was delivered.
Producer/Beatmaker was Barttro and guest performances include Spod (em-pod, ex.CHINPIRA), and a raging microphone requiem that makes the late GONGON come back to life from the graveyard and a glaring guitar requiem. The mix was done by DJ YAB, who is in charge of DJ/engineering for Sennin Porcelain and JUMANJI, and Shiota Hiroshi of SALT FIELD MASTERING, who supports the hip-hop scene with his craftsmanship, served as the mastering engineer.
This film is about GONGON, as well as ONTHEΘRION, who has been an old friend since the beginning of his activities, and who is a representative artist who passed away the other day, is violently slamming his feelings for JJJ on a 3+1 = 4 MC Mike Relay. Overcoming deep conflict and days of conflict between relatives, he finally realizes that “the death of a friend is not the end, but the beginning.” No matter how much you delete it, it’s a music that’s causing a stir on social media, “the more you erase it, the more it burns and the more it burns.” He declared his determination to continue his free and independent musical activities as GONGON put forward, and hip-hop, which he loved. He burns a flame that will never go away and surrounds his friends with his endless circle. As the marching drums roar and shake the heart and body of the listener, like a New Orleans jazz funeral, ONTHEΘRION carry the coffins of his friends and parade through the streets of Hood Ota Ward.
