Korean four-member band Silica Gel released their new single, “Nangong FEFERE (feat. Japanese Breakfast)” today, Thursday, July 10th.
He won the award in the “Best Modern Rock Song” category of the Korean Popular Music Awards, also known as the Korean Grammy Award, for three consecutive years, including 2022 (Desert Eagle), 2023 (NO PAIN), and 2024 (T+Tik Tok Tak). In 2024, he won the “Musician of the Year” in 2024, beating New Jeans and BTS’s JUNG KOOK, which caused a huge response outside of Korea. The live performance, which was originally well-known, has been further refined, and in Korea, the two-day performance at Shochchu Gymnasium, which has a total of 4,500 people, was immediately completed, and in June 2024, the two-day performance at Shibuya WWW X, Tokyo, which was its first solo performance in Japan, sold out, and appeared at the Spanish large music festival “Primavera Sound,” and has also become a live band in recent years.
This is the first new song in 1 year and 7 months since their second album, “POWER ANDRE 99.” Michelle Zauner, also known as Japanese Breakfast, an American SSW with roots in Korea, will feature in the lineup. There is an explosive musical synergy between two artists.
With the announcement of his latest film, which will announce his comeback, Silica Gel will make his first appearance on “FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL” on Sunday, July 27th, and will also appear on a variety of overseas stages, including “Playtime Festival” in Mongolia. It is trying to make even more progress as a leader in alternative rock not only in Korea but across Asia.
