Singer-songwriter iri held an additional performance at LINE CUBE SHIBUYA on Monday, July 21st, which marks the final performance of the 10-performance hall tour “iri Hall Tour 2025 “Seek”” nationwide.
Iri, who summed up his career so far at his first performance in Nippon Budokan in 2024 the previous year, released his new EP, “Seek,” which will be his first packaged work in about two years. This tour has also sung the current state of mind as he collaborates with up-and-coming sound producers who are active both domestically and internationally, threw himself into the season of change.
At the start of the final performance, the talented band members consisting of keyboardist Muraoka Natsuhiko, bassist Murata Shige, drummer Uehara Toshiaki, guitarist TAIKING (Suchmos) and manipulator/synthesizer George lined up. With their rocky performance in the background, Iri appeared on stage and started the live show with her new song, “harunone,” which aims to make a fresh start, along with a fresh groove. The first half of the live performance, symbolized by “friends” and “Pick you up”, which combines an elated dance track with a message that appeals and inspiring to the audience, was the lively voice of iri, who viewed change positively and enjoyed joy.
“The new EP “Seek” was released for this tour, and the new songs were unveiled for the first time, and I think it’s a special piece for me too. I think it’s a work that deeply delves into my inner self. Since the end of last year, various changes have been made within me, and even during this tour, I’ve gradually changed my mind. However, honestly, I don’t know if I’ve changed or become stronger as a result, but I learned a lot about how people always live in search of change.” In the middle of the show, he spoke during the MC, he goes deep into IRI’s inner self, including the song “Butterfly,” which seems to suggest a breakup and a new encounter with lo-fi hip-hop’s spring-like groove and sad guitar arpeggio. I could feel the musician’s dedicated desire to go beyond this, including “I Want to Me,” a viral hit, the theme song for the drama “Even Though I Know The Shapes of Love,” and the new song “River,” which accelerates his strong will to unlock the big flow of life herself.
And then, starting with “Sparkle,” the band arrangements of Interparts made their brilliant shine, and the entire venue was invited to peak in the second half of the live show. “Wonderland,” which has been certified as “Gold Certified” by the Recording Association of Japan, has been joined by the audience’s singing voices, and “rhythm” has been reborn as an extraordinary enthusiasm through aggressive performances. The ending of the main story is often a live performance by IRI, but the fact that she brought her new song, tribal house tune “otozure,” at the end, is probably a sign of her desire to continue without stopping. During the encore, they performed two songs for the first time in a while, including “SUMMER END” which celebrated the summery mellowness and the passionate fun clock number “Swamp”, and then they spread energy to the point of overflowing with gospel soul “24-25”, which was welcomed by the audience with hand claps, and finished the live performance that day in a refreshing way.
IRI said she had been writing songs continuously since the preparation period for this tour. During the MC between songs, he revealed that he is currently preparing a “summer song” that will be released this summer, featuring STUTS on the WAVE’s “Rain” and YOSA & TAAR’s album “Modern Disco Driver,” which he shared the microphone with former BAD HOP rapper Benjazzy. Furthermore, to mark the 10th anniversary of his debut, he announced that he will be holding a solo concert at Osaka Festival Hall on Wednesday, January 28th and at Tokyo Garden Theater on Friday, January 30th. The new music that makes IRI resonate with more active, creative and natural will expand and deepen with an eye on the milestone of its 10th anniversary of its debut.
