Tokyo-based R&B singer Ámina released her first single, “Raw Emotion” on wau today, Wednesday, July 23rd.
With roots in Japan and Sudan, Ámina has grown her tastes in old school pop and jazz in the 1980s and R&B since the 1990s, and has expanded her tastes to UK alternative rock in her teens, and in recent years to disco and black music in the 1970s. Such diverse musical backgrounds have led to the formation of her unique vocal style.
The debut song, “Raw Emotion,” was produced by Wau’s 01sail. As the name suggests, this song is based on the theme of “basic emotions,” and expresses the conflict of hearts that are about to collapse, dependence on your lover, and feelings that sway between domination and salvation with delicate and powerful vocals. Singing “No matter how much I lose myself, your sanity pulls me back,” Hook beautifully depicts the self-loss and recovery in love, as well as quiet passion, and you will naturally be drawn into Ámina’s worldview.
It is said that Ámina plans to start with this work and develop full-scale activities, mainly in Tokyo. I look forward to more news.
