Gummyboy released his new mixtape, “Dedicated to Tokyo Boys,” today, Wednesday, July 23rd.
In recent years, while his center of gravity was placed on his activities as Mall Boyz, his solo expression as a gummyboy has been hiding under the surface for a while. However, that time has never stopped, and the whole view of music that has been cultivated over the course of each day and the perspective of a boy who grew up in the town of Tokyo is packed into this mixtape.
“Dedicated to Tokyo Boys” is a work created by gummyboy with artists such as Gentoku and Laptopboyboy, whom gummyboy trust. This realistic hymn to boys living in the city that can only be drawn by Gummyboy, who grew up in the city of Tokyo, is engraved with sparkle and anxiety, friendship and loneliness, and an unadorned love for music.
The two singles released ahead of the release also speak to the direction of the entire mixtape, and in “YOZAWA”, which was released in 2025, she unleashes her hidden musicality and presents her as she enters a new phase as a rapper. In the following “FUJI ROCK,” the melancholy beats are layered with life-size words, depicting the inner self in a sharp and sometimes gentle way. Gummyboy’s lyrics and beat, which are somehow nostalgic yet capture the present, are close to the hearts of the “boys” living in Tokyo in the 2020s. This work, Dedicated to Tokyo Boys, is a return that shows the time that gummyboy himself has walked and his future direction for his expression, and a new journey.
