The original soundtrack for the movie “The Road to the Seaside” will be released on Wednesday, August 27th.
“The Road to the Seaside” is the latest film by director Yokohama Satoko, who also attracted attention for his work, “German + Rain,” “Ultra Miracle Love Story,” “Actor Kameoka Takuji,” and “Itomichi.” This film is a film adaptation of the manga artist Miyoshi Gin’s masterpiece, “The Road to the Seaside,” and stars Harada Konosuke, a 15-year-old actor (13 at the time), who was selected after auditioning about 800 people. In addition to the unique adults such as Aso Kumiko, Kora Kengo, Karata Erika, Goriki Ayame, Sugawara Koharu, Suwa Atsushi, Murakami Jun, Kudo Kankuro, Sakai Maki, talented young actors such as Aoi Shun, Nakasu Shoma, Yamazaki Nanami, and Niitsu Chise will also be gathered.
The music is done by Zhuangzi’s Dos Monos. This will be the first time Zhuangzi’s has been in charge of film music. The soundtrack includes 15 songs, including 14 music songs and the ending song “La chanson de Yoko.” “La chanson de Yoko” is an original song written by Zhuangziit for this work. The lines, environmental sounds, and sounds from the movie were sampled, and the lyrics were performed by director Yokohama, and the rap part was handled by Zhuangzi.
Like the teaser visual, the artwork is a fun composition that makes full use of the sunlight unique to Shodoshima, which was filmed all over the location, and is placed upside down so that for a moment it is not clear whether the blue color of the sky or the sea. The story features upside down protagonist Shosuke with a paintbrush, and fish-like art made from driftwood.
The movie “The Road to the Seaside” will be released nationwide at Human Trust Cinema Shibuya, Shinjuku Piccadilly and other locations from Friday, August 29th.
