It has been announced that UMI will release its new album, “People Stories” on Friday, August 22nd.
UMI from SSW, which has its roots in Japan and the United States. Their second album, “People Stories,” is said to be UMI’s most personal and scaled work to date. The story was created based on actual stories heard from fans, friends and family, and depicts themes such as dialogue with the self, healing, connection, and identity, based on questions such as “What is humanity?” and “Are we connected somewhere?” The genreless musicality unique to UMI, which freely crosses R&B, soul, folk and pop, is fused with a highly narrative-oriented song set, and the content leads listeners to a deep emotional journey.
When producing the album, she also incorporated outros containing dialogue with therapists, live recordings from her home studio, and daily life sounds, incorporating realistic humanity and warmth into the music. “The meaning is not just in being perfect, but in accepting the “self as you are,” UMI recalls, “through the production of this album, I have found myself in the stories of others.” He also revealed, “It was a great healing for me to be able to acknowledge even dark emotions.”
Additionally, two songs will be released on Friday, July 25th, the latest singles “SOMEWHERE NEW” and “WHAT NOW”. Both songs mark the beginning of a new phase of UMI, and both are based on the theme of “finding yourself in the stories of others,” which runs throughout the album. The work envelops listeners with delicate expressions of emotion and a deep sound.
