Musician Mocky, based in Canada/LA, will be holding his first visit to Japan in six years and a tour of Japan.
Mocky is a prosperous artist who has produced Feist, Kelela, Moses Sumney, Vulfpeck and other works, and has left a mark on the music of a wide range of artists, including being sampled by GZA, Kanye West, Cordae, and G-Dragon. He has been a lingering favorite in Japan, and has also performed in numerous shows in Japan, co-starring with Sakamoto Shintaro, Cero, and Nakamura Kaho BAND, and produced songs by rappers KID FRESINO and Campanella. It also attracted attention in June when they released their latest album, Music Will Explain, on Stones Throw, a long-established LA label.
The other day, it was announced that a Tokyo performance would be held at Shibuya WWW X on Monday, September 22nd (the day before a national holiday), but additional performances have been decided at Shinsaibashi CONPASS in Osaka on Wednesday, September 24th, and at Kyoto CLUB METRO on Thursday, September 25th.
This tour will feature a six-person band set where you can fully experience Mocky’s musical versatility and the essence of the live performance. Mocky himself freely controls the drums, keys and vocals, and depicts the “human resonance” that is unique to a live performance on stage. This brings together talented domestic and international figures, including Vicky Farewell, who also works as solo artists on keyboards and chorus, as well as Tylana Enomoto (Vl./Vo.), Megiapa (Vo.), Atsumi Yoshiro (Ba.), and Kawai Hirotomo (Per.). In addition, “Nn oon” has also been selected to appear as the opening guest at the Tokyo performance.
