GROW THE CULTURE founder Midnight Runner releases new EP on TREKKIE TRAX

DJ/producer Midnight Runner will release his new EP, “A Voyage To The Jet Set,” on Friday, May 24th via TREKKIE TRAX.

Midnight Runner is a DJ/producer from Tokyo. He became interested in dance music after accidentally coming into contact with gabba sounds in his childhood, and after going through drum and bass and happy hardcore, he has developed his current jungle-based sound work. His sound, which reflects a psychedelic worldview and philosophy inspired by various artists, crosses over from retro-future to hardcore and is sublimated into a unique sound that also incorporates the essence of jazz and ambient. He has released an EP from Soulnight Recordings, provided remixes for TREKKIE TRAX, and invited leading artists such as Sully and Denham Audio to work on the collective GROW THE CULTURE, which he founded in 2021.

This work is based on the theme of reinterpreting artcore and ambient jungle from the late 90s. The title track “A Voyage To The Jet Set” features pluck phrases like game background music and simple chords, but also has a “Narrative Mix” version with a lower BPM halfway through. It is a song that expresses the simplicity and pleasantness of jungle well. Other original tracks include “Manhunter,” which changes the beat from piano and pad sounds to four-on-the-floor beats, and features a realistic development with arpeggios and wreath bass, and “Metropolis,” which is said to have been heavily influenced by Photek and Source Direct, as well as remixes by submerse and Oyubi.
