Okinawan rapper CHOUJI to hold first solo concert with participation from CHICO CARLITO, MuKuRo, Hiiragito and others

Okinawa-based rapper CHOUJI’s first solo concert will be held at HARLEM in Shibuya, Tokyo on Monday, July 15th (national holiday).

CHOUJI’s down-to-earth, straightforward lyrics embody the bluesy essence of real hip-hop life. Born on Ishigaki Island in Okinawa Prefecture, he began his music career in earnest in the mid-2000s, based on the main island of Okinawa. He has built his career by doing everything himself, from songwriting to recording and mastering in his home studio, and even designing and selling artwork. His style is characterized by a vivid portrayal of his own real life, including his hometown of Okinawa, his family, and social issues, without pandering to the trends of the scene or the world.

In addition to releasing works at a rapid pace, he also supports young rappers and artists in Okinawa at his own DGH Studio, making him known as an important figure who cannot be left out when talking about Okinawa’s hip-hop scene.

Okinawan artists such as CHICO CARLITO, I-VAN, MuKuRo, RITTO, YAMATO HAZE, and Hiiragito will be participating as guests in this performance. In addition, they will also perform a band set with the “morijin BAND”, which is made up of Nagipan (Key.), Gorilla Head (Gt.), KICKERMAN HIROSHI (Dr.), who co-produced the EP “morijin” released in February this year, and bassist Fumit.
