Alfie Templeman releases new song "Just a Dance" featuring Nile Rodgers

Alfie Templeman released his new single “Just a Dance feat. Nile Rodgers” today, Monday, June 3rd.

Alfie Templeman is a singer-songwriter from Bedfordshire, England. He released his first album “Mellow Moon” in 2022 and performed in Japan in the same year. This song is a pre-release song from his second album “Radiosoul” to be released on Friday, June 7th. It is a danceable and funky disco pop number featuring legendary guitarist Nile Rodgers, and the music video will be released on the album’s release date. Alfie Templeman commented on this song as follows: “I was lucky to work with Nile Rodgers, who is no exaggeration to say that he invented a genre called indie pop guitar style!”

The overall concept and artwork for the second album, “Radiosoul,” was not decided from the beginning, but was gradually put together during the production process. With themes such as moving, growing up, and the process of going from teenager to adult, the album ended up being a groovy, danceable album that is a little removed from the indie pop of the first album, “Mellow Moon,” because they “wanted to try an experimental sound.”

He also said, “In terms of sound, I was deeply influenced by The Beach Boys.” While the sound is full of euphoria, the lyrics describe people suffering and trying to sort out their emotions, which overlaps with his own feelings and is reflected in the album.

Furthermore, for this album, he took on a completely different style from his previous album, which he produced alone in his room. He decided to embrace his own shortcomings and reconsider that there are some things he can’t solve on his own, and aimed to collaborate with fellow musicians and people he wanted to work with. He says that by working with someone, rather than completing the project on his own, he was able to take a step back and enjoy collaborating with others.

She also spoke about the album title, Radiosould, saying, “It’s kind of a mix of words. Throughout the album, I write based on my observations, like, there’s a generation gap that happens in every generation, but there are some things that are definitely different between the current generation and the past. I saw my grandparents listening to the radio a lot, and it was normal back then, but now nobody really values it, and people often take things for granted. So I wrote about that. On the other hand, I also wrote about how social media has become such a chaotic place with so many parasocial relationships and superficial people being on the internet all the time. So I try to be more authentic and stay true to myself. That’s where the soul part came from. And those two words just somehow went together and sounded good, so I chose the title.”
