Clenasm releases collaboration single "Kimura Kaede" with Taiwan's I Mean Us today & music video released

The collaborative single “Kimura Kaede” by Clenasm and Taiwanese dream pop/alternative band I Mean Us was released today, Wednesday, June 5th.

This work was composed by Shuuta (Dr.), a member of Clenasm. The song features an impressive sound with a danceable rhythm that has its roots in R&B, electronic and dance music, and the onomatopoeia “swaying” is used to express the band’s fluctuating emotions. The contrast between the vocals of both bands is also worth noting.

The music video is scheduled to premiere today at 9pm. It was directed by Ryota Sakamoto (ENGINE Co., Ltd.).

Clenasm has been holding a solo tour since May. Tickets for the Taipei, Fukuoka, and Osaka shows have already sold out. At the Taiwan show, they will be performing “Kimura Kaede” with guest I Mean Us.

I’ve been listening to I Mean Us for a while now and think they’re a cool Taiwanese band, and I’ve always wanted to do something with these wonderful voices and songs, so I was really happy when the collaboration came to fruition.
This song has more specific lyrics than previous songs by Clenasm, and the song itself was created with a focus on rhythm. I Mean Us and I have been discussing the track and lyrics for a long time, and it’s a song that we all completed together. I hope everyone will sing along to it.
The title “Kimura Kaede” is a fictional character created by combining the names of people that the members of CLENASM used to like. I hope you listen to this song while thinking back to what Kimura Kaede (the person you loved) means to you.

From our first meeting at the online meeting, to the stage where we actually started working together and discussed the arrangement, lyrics, and mix, everyone at Clenasm was always kind and the process went smoothly. In particular, Shuta, the drummer and composer of this song, was enthusiastic about sharing his ideas and thoughts about the song, which was really helpful. I’m very happy to be able to collaborate like this, and I find it fascinating to be able to communicate through music with artists I’ve never met face to face.
As we listened to the lyrics and demo of this song over and over again, we felt a mixture of dreaminess and sadness. It reminded us of distant fireworks in the back of our minds, or a blurry Polaroid of something that was once beautiful but has now faded. So we captured this melancholy, lonely, yet deeply moving feeling in the vocal arrangement and lyrics.
I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to take part in such an emotional song. I hope that the resulting song will gently touch our hearts, like a cool breeze on a summer night.
