Kiwako Anjimine releases her second EP “Embrace” today, created with the themes of “prayer” and “wish”

Okinawa-born singer-songwriter Kiwako Anjimi released her new EP “Embrace” today, Wednesday, June 12th.

This second EP was created with the theme of “prayer” and “wishes.” The opener track “Shirase,” which was also released as a pre-release single, is derived from the legend of “Shirase” in his hometown of Okinawa. When something bad happens, what is generally recognized as a “curse” is sometimes perceived in Okinawa as “Shirase,” a message from gods, Buddhas, spirits, or other beings that “tell” us about the disaster or event.

In addition, the two songs “Embrace” and “Floating” were created based on the true stories of his relatives, and he said, “I completed the songs while feeling as if vivid scenes and emotions were spreading throughout my whole body.” The lyric video for “Floating” is scheduled to be released later this month.

SWING-O participated in the composition and arrangement of “Shirase” and “Fuyuu”. The artwork was done by photographer Hina Hiraki, who has also worked on works by Haruka Kimijima and Nagisa Kuroki.

The EP is peppered with an ethnic atmosphere that evokes the earth, wind, and blue and green scenery of Okinawa, Kiwako Anjimi’s hometown, and can truly be described as a work that returns to her roots.

In addition, a release party for this work will be held at Haretara Sora ni Mamemai in Daikanyama, Tokyo on Sunday, June 23rd. Tickets are currently on sale.

[Comment from Kiwako Anjimine]

The second EP, “Embrace,” is a work created around the themes of “prayer” and “wishes.”
This is the first time I have released a work that so clearly expresses the spiritual world I have believed in and nurtured within myself, as well as the local atmosphere of Okinawa, where I was born.
Just as people have an unquestionable sense of presence, I believe that there are also invisible beings that can sense presence.
I believe that we pray and make wishes because we believe in the existence of spirits watching over us and our deceased loved ones.
The soft expressions and atmosphere of someone praying and making a wish with all their heart for their deceased loved one and the spirits watching over them were embodied by Director Hiraki Hina, along with Koki Noguchi (hair stylist) and Shinya Kumazaki (make-up) and incorporated into the jacket.
Additionally, the sounds for the songs “Shirase” and “Fuyuu” in this album were created by keyboardist/producer SWING-O, who also created the sounds for the second single, “Flower song.”
“Floating” is completed with a light tempo and sounds that seem to convey the message to dance freely, while “Shirase” is a piece that exudes an ethnic feel, with the flavor of my hometown, Okinawa, on full display.
