Helsinki Lambda Club has announced that they will release a new single, “Mystery Train (feat. Wez Atlas) – Non from KIKI Remix” on Wednesday, June 19th.
Helsinki Lambda Club celebrated their 10th anniversary on July 4, 2023, and released their third full-length album, “Welcome to Helsinki Lambda Club,” in August of the same year. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, they have performed overseas more frequently, performing in Hong Kong, Singapore, China (Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou with Huichundan) and Taiwan last year, and this year they appeared at SXSW in Austin, USA. They also held their first UK tour, including an appearance at the UK festival The Great Escape.
This is the second remix project following the first one, “Good News Is Bad News – Swim Deep Slowcore Remix,” which was started in April. This time, the remix was done by Non, the guitarist of Thai electropop band KIKI.
Thailand is a country that the members of Helsinki Lambda Club love, and they have deepened their ties with artists from the country, such as releasing a collaborative work with FORD TRIO in the past and performing as a support act for VINI and H3F’s Japan tours. They performed with KIKI at the AXEAN FESTIVAL held in Singapore in 2023, and the members were so moved by the live performance that they offered to produce this remix.
The original song “Mystery Train (feat. Wez Atlas)” (2022) features rapper Wez Atlas and has been a hot topic since being included in Spotify playlists in Asian countries. The remix is said to be a comfortable electro-dance tune.
[Non (KIKI) Comment]
I chose this song because I like the rap part in “Mystery Train” and it feels different from the other songs of the band, so I wanted to make something different.
For this remix, I didn’t want to sound like a guitar band. I was thinking of a 90s-2000s nightclub vibe. I cut out all the guitars and used bass sounds to create a new groove. I kept the vocals and added some electronic sounds with classic style chords.

[Comment from Kaoru Hashimoto (Helsinki Lambda Club)]
For the second remix in the remix series, we asked NON, the guitarist of the Thai electropop band KIKI, to remix “Mystery Train.” Thanks to FORD TRIO, I’ve been able to meet many great Thai artists and bands in recent years, and KIKI is one of them. I’ve loved them since I first heard of them, and I remember being overwhelmed and moved by their energy when we performed on the same stage in Singapore last year. They are based on electropop, which is probably a little rare in the Thai indie scene, but they combine a wide variety of musical elements, making them very unique, and it was also impressive that their approach to their recordings and their live performances was, of course, different in a good way. They are a band that has both a refreshing feeling and passion at the same time.
This remix really conveys how much I love music, and it was a fresh experience for me. The beat has a great temperature that makes you feel good dancing to both downer and upper songs. I can imagine it would be fun to dance to it alone at home, or to dance to it at a club or live house.
I want to meet them again and express my gratitude to them in person soon. I hope to perform with them both in Japan and Thailand.
