Emerald to release new album “Neo Oriented” for the first time in seven years

Emerald has announced that they will release their new album, “Neo Oriented,” on Wednesday, August 28th.

This is their first full album in seven years, and while showing their admiration for the overseas music that has strongly influenced them – jazz, neo-soul, and AOR – the songs were produced with a strong awareness of the various contexts of Japan, the place where they were born and raised. This album clearly shows their current location and the beginning of their new activities, not only for domestic listeners, but also for many more people.

Etsuko (Cho., DADARAY) and Yusuke (Gt., TAMTAM), who have participated as supporting musicians in many Emerald songs in the past, continue to participate. Daisuke Yamashita, who also participated in Emerald’s first and second albums, is in charge of mixing and mastering. NiEW Inc. is also participating as a new creative support for this work.

To coincide with the release of the album, the band will hold the album release tour “Ray of hope” in Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka in September. First Love is Never Returned will appear as a guest at CONPASS in Osaka on Saturday, September 7th, and at stiff slack in Nagoya, Aichi on Sunday, September 8th. On Friday, September 20th, they will hold a solo concert at Kinema Club in Tokyo, their first in two years since Shibuya WWW X in 2022. Tickets are available from today.

Before I knew it, it had been seven years since I last released an album.
The environment surrounding music has changed a lot in that time, and I feel bewildered at how quickly time passes.
The production of the album shifted away from studio work and towards layering arrangements and playing that had been worked on in each member’s personal space.
But, or perhaps because of that, I think we were able to create a more creative piece that still retained the essence of Emerald. I can proudly say this is our best work yet!
As a poet and a poetic artist, I think this is the work I’ve put the most effort into to date.
I hope you will listen to it many times and enjoy the various sounds created by the six of them and their support members.
