HAPPY releases new album "Ancient Moods Mahollova Mind" for the first time in about 5 years

It has been announced that HAPPY will release his new album, “Ancient Moods Mahollova Mind,” on Wednesday, June 26th.

About five years have passed since the release of his second album, “High Planet Cruise” (2019), and HAPPY has been active across various scenes, including performing at the “Zenkankakusai” festival organized by GEZAN, working in a session with Donna Leake at BUM in Osaka, and appearing at “FESTIVAL FRUEZINHO 2024” to be held in July.

This is the third full-length album, and almost all of the songs were recorded in a home studio that the members built during the pandemic. As the album title suggests, the theme is the charm of ancient times and the exploration of the soul, and while inheriting the catchy approach of the past, the range of expression has been expanded. In addition to the instruments they usually use, various instruments such as the Taishogoto, lyre harp, shruti box, bansuri, conga and djembe are used, and it has been finished with a new exotic sound that is characteristic of HAPPY’s exploration of “music that has not been heard yet”. The members themselves were involved in almost every process of the work, from recording to the artwork.

The mysterious artwork, which resembles 3D graphics and is also ancient, was drawn by Arata Shinoda, a friend of the band, and the band members colored and edited it, then photographer Mikito Hyakuno printed it on paper and scanned it. Mixing was done by Ric (Riku Sawada), a member of the band, and Musha Ayumu, who also participated as a mixer in the previous album. Mastering was done by Timothy Stollenwerk, who has worked on Wooden Shjips, Drugdealer, and Mild High Club.

In addition, the music video for the album track “Solar Notes” will be released at 18:00 on the day of release. This was produced by Big guru west, who has worked on HAPPY’s video work in the past. It is said to be a psychedelic and trippy work that seems to have jumped out from a faraway foreign country. The newly released artist visual was also shot by Big guru west.

The album is scheduled to be released on cassette and LP in the future.
