Joe Cupertino’s new album “RE:” themed on “rebirth” is out today

Joe Cupertino released his new album “RE:” today, Wednesday, June 19th.

This album contains eight tracks in total, including pre-release singles featuring chelmico’s Suzuki Makiko, Lil’ Leise But Gold, and Tamaki ROY, as well as newly recorded tracks such as “Soup,” featuring rapper/video director Ole.

The opening track, “Stars,” focuses on the overall theme of “rebirth.” Stars explode repeatedly, expressing Joe’s music’s continuing evolution. The dried flowers in the lyrics represent a kind of “rebirth,” as flowers that were once withered take on a new form.

Other conceptual works include “sadjoeaido,” in which Joe, who lost a pet, writes about the world he imagines after his pet’s death from his own perspective, and “Destroy,” which focuses on the theme of destruction as the starting point for rebirth, but does not explicitly state the rebirth that lies beyond it, suggesting it may be a hint at his next work.

Mixing and mastering was done by his friend T-Razor, artwork by Satoshi Hori, and artist visuals by Yohji Uchida.
