Tokyo-based rapper Issei Uno Fifth releases new song “KWP” and music video

Tokyo-based rapper Issei Uno Fifth released his new single “KWP” today, Wednesday, June 19th.

Issei Uno Fifth learned about various music cultures through friends with different roots while living in Chicago, USA. The title of this work, “KWP,” is derived from the coined word “Konnichi What’s Popping,” which combines the Japanese greeting “konnichiwa” (hello) with the English phrase “What’s Popping.” He was inspired by the overflowing groove he felt when listening to Afrobeats, and reinterpreted it in his own style.

The song was composed by KESSO, a producer who has worked on many of Issei Uno Fifth’s works. The arrangement was done by AGO, who has worked on many of SIRUP’s and BE:FIRST’s works. The music video will also premiere today at 8:30 p.m.

In addition, a release party to commemorate the release of this work will be held today at “No Free Coffee” in Harajuku, Tokyo. The event will be live-streamed on Issei Uno Fifth’s official Instagram and YouTube channel from around 20:15. Check it out.

[Issei Uno Fifth Comment]

This song is a message to kids my age who are afraid to be confident.
I would recommend listening to this song when you want to encourage yourself or gain confidence.
It’s a song that will make you want to dance just by listening to it, so be sure to give it a listen!
