brkfstblend to release first EP "City Habits" and hold free release party

It has been announced that brkfstblend will release his first EP, “City Habits,” on Wednesday, July 10th.

brkfstblend is a new band launched last year by Michael Kaneko, Keity (ex. LUCKY TAPES), and Tetsuji Kasuya (ex. Yogee New Waves). While focusing on American roots music from the 70s and 80s, they continue to create new sounds that do not fit into any particular mold. This album includes 5 songs: “Cannonball”, a reinterpretation of disco music in brkfstblend’s own way, the funk tune “City Habits”, “nyc”, which is based on classic rock but has a modern taste, “2am”, which continues to be a hit in Europe and the United States despite not being promoted and is reminiscent of the AOR of the past, and the ballad number “west la”, as well as “Cannonball (Keity Wasted Remix)”, which was remixed by bassist Keity.

The artwork was created by graphic designer Asuka Watanebe, who has also worked on the main visuals for “FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL” and “Asagiri JAM” and has produced artwork for numerous other artists. The concept of “City Habits” is vividly and beautifully expressed, and the song and artwork are all a pursuit of what they love.

In addition, a release party will be held at TRUNK (HOTEL) CAT STREET in Shibuya, Tokyo on Thursday, July 25th. Admission is free, so be sure to check it out.
