KI released her new single “atha” (pronounced “ata”) today, Wednesday, June 26th. The music video was also released.
Their first EP “Vi” (2019) was born from the band’s initial impulse to put “what they can do now” into their songs to the fullest extent and the deep introspection of each member, and their second EP “Wa” (2023) was released in which they challenged themselves beyond their own capabilities with the intention of “creating something overwhelming” that is more expandable, with an awareness of their connection to society and their own growth. This song is said to be an attempt to combine the introspection and expansion of these two works.
“Atha” is a Sanskrit word that means “in the beginning, then” or “an auspicious or prosperous beginning.” As such, it expresses the beginning and spread of the present tree (KI) that has passed through “Vi” and “Wa.”
The music video released at the same time was created by video artist Haga Yohei, who has worked on fashion videos for AURALEE and others, music videos for iri, TENDRE, and SixTONES, the ending theme for the drama “Omameda Towako and Her Three Ex-Husbands,” and other music videos.
In addition, KI is planning a live concert on their own initiative on Saturday, October 19th. Let’s look forward to further news.
