Xiangyu releases new baile funk song “Zutto Iru Tomato” featuring contemporary artist Koichi Mitsuoka

Xiangyu released his new single “Zutto Iru Tomato” today, Wednesday, June 26th.

Following on from the previous single “Last Pizza,” this is the second single with the theme of “a lump of restraint.” The song tells the story of how the “chilled tomatoes,” a standard quick menu item at izakayas, are left to the last person, and the background behind this. Gimgigam is once again in charge of sound production. The song is based on baile funk, which originated in Brazil, and has a fast-paced sound that makes you want to move your body.

The cover artwork was done by the same contemporary artist who worked on the previous work.Koichi MitsuokaThe work combines the words of the author with a photo of the izakaya when there were still tomatoes left. Koichi Mitsuoka also co-stars in the voice this time.

A lyric video was also released. This work is based on a series of documentaries in which tomatoes are left at the end at a fixed point.

[Xiangyu comment]

When I was a student, I really hated after-party parties and other drinking parties.

Even though the membership fee is about 3,000 yen, it doesn’t fill you up (and since I can’t drink alcohol at all, it’s a huge loss for me), and I always thought that if I was going to pay 3,000 yen, I would rather go to a yakiniku restaurant or a buffet.

At those drinking parties, someone usually orders something like “chilled tomatoes” from the “appetizers for now” menu, and there’s always one left at the end. I mean, it’s amazing how those things have no flavor at all, but they’ve been a staple on the izakaya menu for so many years. They’re really moving mountains.
