Minami Nakamura released her new single “ALA ALA” today, June 27th (Thursday). The music video was also released.
Minami Nakamura has been making waves for her participation in Manchester-based DJ/producer salute’s new album “TRUE MAGIC”. This song is one that she has been polishing up every time she performs at festivals such as “FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL” and clubs every weekend for the past three years. It is a summer tune with lyrics that express her memories of her hometown, the Shonan area from Tsujido to Fujisawa, where she used to hang out as a teenager.
The title “ALA ALA” was chosen by Nakamura Minami after she mispronounced the word “oraora” which she saw in a photo booth picture taken by a senior student when she was in her early teens, and started using it as slang with her friends.
Andrew from TREKKIE TRAX was in charge of the track, which combines a reggaeton- and dancehall-inspired beat with a UK drill-like disturbing melody and bass line. The result is a work that captures Minami Nakamura’s innocence and a somewhat mysterious nostalgia.
The music video was shot entirely in Fujisawa, and the footage was shot on a cheap security camera purchased at a recycle shop. Though lo-fi, the dynamic footage visualizes the world of the song.
