Wednesday Campanella’s Utaha launches solo project, first album released today

Wednesday Campanella’s Zepp tour in support of their latest EP “POP DELIVERY” began on Wednesday, July 3rd.

The first day started at Zepp Sapporo in Hokkaido. The opening video included a video of Utaha enjoying Sapporo that had just been filmed, and then the live started. Kenmochi Hidefumi, who writes the lyrics and composes the music for this tour, also appeared on stage, livening up the venue.

They performed songs from their EP “POP DELIVERY,” including “Akaneko,” the theme song for the TV anime “Ramen Akaneko,” which will begin airing today, Thursday, July 4th, as well as their past hits. Kenmochi Hidefumi also participated as an MC, and in between segments that resembled the show “Delivery from Wednesday,” he delighted fans with local material. There was also a rock-paper-scissors tournament, creating a homely atmosphere that only a solo live show can offer.

They ended the first day of the tour with the traditional “Lucky Cat” and performed a total of 15 songs, bringing the curtain down on the first day of the tour with great success. After the show ended, the venue suddenly went dark and a video was played announcing the start of Utaha’s solo project. “I’ll do my best in Wednesday Campanella, which I love, but I’ll also do my best in my solo activities!” she said, expressing her enthusiasm for her solo activities, which was met with applause from the audience in support of Utaha.

In the future, she will start activities under the name Utaha in parallel with Wednesday Campanella. And today, Thursday, July 4th, her first album “Utau Youni, Hogarakani” was released. The album contains a total of 8 songs centered around a band sound. The lyrics and music are written by Utaha. In March of this year, she released her first photo essay “POEM,” which candidly describes her past, and the lyrics of these 8 songs are said to be packed with the messages that Utaha wants to convey.

The producer is Ichiro Yoshida, who is active under the solo name Ichiro Yoshida Untouchable World, and together with BOBO on drums and sound engineer Uni Inoue, he firmly supports Shiba’s sound. The artwork is a homage to a photo she took when she was a child, and is designed with the same composition as that photo. The photo shows Shiba in her natural state, with almost no makeup.

The album “Utau Youni, Hogarakani” will be released as a packaged CD on Friday, August 9th. Reservations have started today, and if you make a reservation at Wednesday Campanella’s Zepp concert venue, you will receive a signed postcard, so be sure to check out the other bonuses.

In addition, August 9th (Friday) is Utaha’s 23rd birthday, and on the same day she will be holding her first solo concert at Shinjuku LOFT in Tokyo. She is planning to perform with a band set.
