Emerald released their new single “in the mood” today, July 24th (Wednesday). The music video was also released.
Emerald will release their new album “Neo Oriented” on Wednesday, August 28th. “In the mood” is an ambitious work that brings together the neo-soul that the band has been aiming for since the beginning of their activities with their own interpretation. It has also been decided that it will be the ending theme for TV Tokyo’s “Moyamoya Summers 2” (July to September).
Etsuko (Cho., DADARAY) and Yusuke (Gt., TAMTAM), who have participated in many of Emerald’s songs as supporting musicians, are credited again this time. Daisuke Yamashita, who also participated in Emerald’s first and second albums, is in charge of mixing and mastering. The music video was directed by Lily Marga, who also worked on the previous work “Inverted Eyes,” and Kensuke Takahashi (Qnel) appears in it.
In September, the album release tour “Ray of hope” will take place in Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka. Both shows at CONPASS in Osaka on Saturday, September 7th and at stiff slack in Nagoya, Aichi on Sunday, September 8th will be two-man shows with First Love is Never Returned as a guest. The tour finale at Kinema Club in Tokyo on Friday, September 20th will be their first solo show in two years since Shibuya WWW X in 2022. Tickets are currently available.

The song “In the Mood” was conceived from the early stages of album production, and is filled with elements of neo-soul, which is the foundation of Emerald.
I think these lyrics are the closest to my theme of “coexistence with others” that runs through the whole album, and I wanted to portray not only surviving by yourself, but also with others and partners. I wrote this song about a couple who are close to each other, living their lives together and going out to various places without raising their voices. I imagined two people walking together, arm in arm, huddled together, even if it’s a little difficult to walk. I’ve always wanted to try sealing off my high-pitched voice and singing in a calm tone. I think Etsuko’s brilliant chorus work and the chic performance of the band make this an irresistible masterpiece.
