The drama “Sky Castle” is a shocking work that will definitely make you fall in love with it, depicting the muddy battle for dominance between beautiful celebrity wives who, despite their elegant appearances, have burning ambitions, fierce vanity and pride, and “secrets” that they can’t tell anyone about. The series features five gorgeous female cast members, including Nao Matsushita, Fumino Kimura, Manami Higa, Maryjun Takahashi, and Yukie Nakama. The series began today as an “unpredictable, glittering, and muddy suspense mystery” in which a series of thrilling developments occur one after another, triggered by a “mysterious accident.”

The new song “Swamp” was written by iri after watching the original manga. It was produced in collaboration with ESME MORI, the sound producer behind iri’s signature song “Wonderland.” The title was chosen because she wanted the song to fit the worldview of the drama and make you feel like you’re swamped in it. With an impressive intro of strings and distorted guitar, this song is a new approach to sound production for iri, and was released as a surprise at the end of the first episode of the drama that was just aired.

This will be the first time that iri will be in charge of a theme song for a terrestrial television drama.

It was my first experience writing for a TV drama. Since it was a suspense drama, I had to go through a lot of trial and error to find the best way to express the tension and the complicated human relationships. Based on a guitar phrase that suddenly came to mind, I wrote a song about the bottomless energy of protecting the things and people you love even while being driven crazy by desire. I wrote a song about accepting distorted love, and sometimes letting go of it, and the determination to choose your own life despite the conflict.

I hope you enjoy it along with the drama.
