Yusei Yagi plays an unlucky high school student who somehow gets injured every day! The movie “Yano-kun’s Ordinary Days” is set for release

■Travis Japan’s Nakamura Kaito will play Hashiba Yudai, the most popular boy in school and rival of Yano, played by Yagi Yusei (FANTASTICS)!

The movie “Yano-kun’s Ordinary Days,” starring Yusei Yagi (FANTASTICS), is set to be released nationwide on November 15th. The main cast, teaser trailer, and teaser visuals have all been released at once.

“Yano-kun’s Ordinary Days” is based on the popular romantic comedy manga of the same name by Tamura Yui (serialized in Comic Days), which depicts the daily lives of an extremely unlucky high school boy and his classmates, including an anxious high school girl.

While active as the vocalist of the dance and vocal group FANTASTICS, Yagi Yusei made his breakthrough not only in Japan but also in Asia with his role as a charismatic high school student with overwhelming beauty in the drama “Beautiful Him” which will begin airing in 2021. Yagi has appeared in many dramas and movies, expanding his scope of work as an actor, and this is his first solo film lead role.

Yagi plays the main character, Tsuyoshi Yano, a high school student with extremely bad luck who somehow ends up getting injured every day. Despite the pressure of being the first troupe leader, he seems to have enjoyed filming.

Co-starring in this film is Ikehata Anji, who was selected to play the heroine of the Pocari Sweat brand commercial, which is said to be the “gateway to becoming a popular actress” and will be making her live-action film debut in this film. She will play the extremely anxious class representative Yoshida Kiyoko, who cannot leave Yano-kun alone after seeing him covered in injuries, with a fresh attitude.

The role of Yudai Hashiba, the most popular boy in school who is good at sports and has feelings for Yoshida, will be played by Kaito Nakamura, a member of the seven-member male idol group Travis Japan, which made its global debut in 2022. This will be Nakamura’s film debut.

The director is Takehiko Shinjo, director of the films “Come Kiss Me at Midnight” (2019) and “But, Chiki-kun is Too Sweet” (2023). The director, who has worked on many hit heart-warming works, carefully depicts the youth of high school students who are purer than ever before.

■Special video and teaser visuals also released!
Along with the release of the information, a special trailer was also released. The trailer shows the appearance of the extremely unlucky high school student Yano, played by Yagi, who is covered in injuries, as well as the extremely anxious girl Yoshida, who can’t help but worry about Yano, and the most popular boy in school, Hashiba. The trailer gives a glimpse of the heart-pounding youthful days of the pure characters, which begin with their extreme bad luck.

In addition, the teaser visuals were also unveiled for the first time. In the center, Yano is leaning against a school desk, exuding a mysterious and sexy air, and around him are Kiyoko, played by Ikebata, who has feelings for Yano, and Hashiba, played by Nakamura, a popular boy. In addition, collages of the misfortunes that happen to Yano in his daily life are included here and there, making for an impressive visual that beautifully expresses the worldview of this work.

There are also plans to turn “Yano-kun’s Ordinary Days” into an anime, so keep an eye out for further updates.

■Comment from Yusei Yagi (FANTASTICS)
“Yano-kun’s Ordinary Days” was my first time playing the lead role alone, and while I was excited, I also felt some pressure from being the leader for the first time. However, Director Shinjo and the other staff were all cheerful, and my co-stars were all fresh and inspiring, making it a great set that was bright and filled with laughter.
The character I play, Yano, is a clumsy but truly pure and straightforward young man. I played the role in a way that would convey his pure feelings and his daily life with his wonderful friends. He also has bad luck and is subject to many accidents in his daily life, and he gets injured a lot! (laughs)
Although it is a comedy, it also has nerve-wracking thrills and heart-warming moments, making it a film that can be enjoyed from many different angles and will remind you of pure feelings, so I hope you will go see it at the cinema.

■ Comment from Anji Ikebata
I was very happy to be able to play the role of Kiyoko. When I was told, “It’s been decided that you will play the role of Anji,” I thought, “What?” and really couldn’t believe it.
When I read the original work, I felt that Kiyoko was a very attractive girl because she was serious and worked hard at everything she did. We are also similar in that we tend to worry, so I compared myself to Kiyoko while preparing for the role.
The one and a half month shooting period felt like one second to me, and it went by so quickly. Yagi-san, who played Yano-kun, was as pure as the real Yano-kun, and Nakamura-san, who played Hashiba-kun, was the mood maker for everyone (laughs). It was my first movie, but I was able to run through it with all my might, with the support of everyone.
I have a feeling that this will be a fantastic work!

■Comment from Kaito Nakamura (Travis Japan)
Hashiba can do anything, he’s a really good guy, good at studying and sports, kind to everyone, and supports his friends’ love lives. He’s a different type of character from me, but throughout the filming period, with the help of Director Shinjo, my co-stars, and the staff, I gradually formed my own image of Hashiba. On the set, Director Shinjo conveyed his thoughts to me, and I think listening to him helped me to take the role seriously. I would be very happy if I’ve become a Hashiba that people who like the original work can love too!
It was such an intense shoot that I felt like I was experiencing my youth in just one and a half months (laughs). I was able to relive my youth in “Yano-kun’s Ordinary Days,” and it was really fun!
This is my third film, but it has become an important work that has helped me grow and experience the joy of acting. I am really looking forward to seeing the finished film!

■ Comment from Yui Tamura (original author)
The moment I found out it was going to be made into a live-action movie I was just so surprised!
And when I visited the filming location, Yano-kun, Kiyoko, Hashiba, and everyone else were really there…!!
The atmosphere on set was so friendly and harmonious that I felt like I had entered the world of “Yano-kun’s Ordinary Days.” I can’t thank everyone involved enough.
I am really looking forward to the day when I can see the movie’s unique storyline, action scenes involving injuries, and more.
