■The second MV for “Kaiju,” “Kaiju” Music Video featuring SHINJI NISHIKAWA, is a must-see work that is strongly linked to the song, which has the theme of “creation” itself.
The second music video for DREAMS COME TRUE’s song “Kaiju,” written for the movie “Kamino Fude: The Island with Monsters” (released on July 26th), “Kaiju” Music Video featuring SHINJI NISHIKAWA, will be available for streaming on July 7th, Dreams Come True Day.
The first music video, “Kaiju” featuring the film “Kaminofude: The Island of Monsters,” has already been released and makes abundant use of scenes from the film, giving it the feel of a collaboration between the two genres of film and music.
Meanwhile, the second installment, which will be released this time, will feature the participation of Shinji Nishikawa, who has worked on monster design for the Godzilla series and other titles, and will feature a highly anticipated drawing of Yamata no Orochi, which also appears in the film, by Nishikawa himself using a single brush.
The song “Kaiju” is based on the theme of creation itself, and weaves in the primal landscapes that reside in everyone’s hearts, and is about the moment when something is born and the preciousness of creating it. In that sense, this collaboration with Shinji Nishikawa makes the message of the song even more prominent.
A man (Nishikawa) opens the door and enters the studio. On a desk by the window is a blank sheet of paper and a pen. It is the “divine brush” that also appears in the film. He sits down on a chair, picks up his brush, and begins to draw lines on the paper. Many black lines intersect. The countless dots and lines eventually form a concrete image.
The video is basically composed of only one scene that realistically follows Nishikawa’s hands while smoothly changing the angle. It matches the melody of “Kaiju” which has only one section, and the picture of Orochi appears in sync with “Kaiju” whose sound changes as the song progresses. It’s a strange feeling as if the music is drawing the picture and the picture is playing the music.
“I am a Kaiju and Kaiju is you”
This is a rare MV that gives you a glimpse into the original creative process. Enjoy the collaboration that creates art and music.
The song “Kaiju” features lyrics about “birch” and “kingfisher.” It is exactly the original scenery of Hokkaido. The “Kaiju” Music Video featuring SHINJI NISHIKAWA will be screened at the event to be held over two days on July 6th and 7th (Dreams Come True Day) in Ikeda Town, Hokkaido, which is the original scenery.
“Ikeda Wine Castle 50th Anniversary Thanksgiving Festival x DREAMS COME TRUE 35th Anniversary DREAMS COME TRUE Day – Eve Festival -” “DREAMS COME TRUE and DREAMS COME TRUE Day” is an outdoor event with a DREAMS COME TRUE acoustic mini live, DREAMS COME TRUE disco, and even a movie screening.
