■ “I hope this Saturday will be a heart-pounding one.” (Watanabe Shota)
New adorable photos have been released in advance from the new drama “Aoshima-kun is Mean,” which stars Watanabe Shota (Snow Man) and Nakamura Anne and will start airing on TV Asahi’s Oshidora Saturday slot on July 6th.
This work is the first film adaptation of the popular comic “Aoshima-kun is Mean” (Yu Yoshii/Mecha Comic Original), which was ranked first in the 2020 “Mecha Comic” annual ranking and has exceeded 130 million cumulative views (cumulative downloads within the Mecha Comic service, including free downloads as of June 2024). It stars Snow Man’s Watanabe Shota and Nakamura Anne in the lead roles. It depicts the “contract love” that begins with a small lie between Aoshima Mizuki (Watanabe), a younger, fasting boy who has no interest in love, and Katsuragi Yukino (Nakamura), a 35-year-old dried-fish girl who has given up on love.
Every episode of this show features a heart-pounding scene that women long for. Watanabe sympathizes with Aoshima’s character, saying, “I have a lot in common with him in that he’s not interested in love,” while Nakamura says, “He enjoys spending time alone, and there’s so much about him that I don’t even need to prepare for the role! There are so many parts that I really understand.” The adult love story between Aoshima and Yukino, played by these two, will finally begin on July 6th with the extended special premiere.
■They were supposed to be “pretending” to be lovers, but what will become of Yukino, who has been toyed with by the mean Aoshima…?! The first episode is a turbulent start!
Yukino, a general affairs employee at the beverage manufacturer “Cat Beverage,” is about to turn 35. She met her boyfriend on a dating app and was dating him with marriage in mind, but he dumped her, putting an end to her search for a husband. Although she is treated like an old lady at work, she is enjoying her “single life.” However, one day, while enjoying a drink at her favorite izakaya after work, she gets a call from her friend Asako (Kawashima Umika), who is getting married next week. Yukino has completely forgotten that she was planning to attend the wedding with her ex-boyfriend… Facing a big crisis the following week, Yukino panics and asks Aoshima, a system department employee at the same company who happens to be sitting next to her, to play the role of her “boyfriend for one day.” Then, Aoshima, who has never had a proper conversation with her, readily agrees. The two finally enter into a “contract love affair.”
However, the next day, rumors spread within the company that the two were dating, and the female employees, who were missing Aoshima, the most popular guy in the company, were in an uproar. Moreover, Yukino was shocked to find out that Aoshima, who was apparently too popular and causing trouble, was bragging about dating Yukino himself. “What’s going on!?” she asked Aoshima, but he looked at her from close range and asked, “Shall we create a fait accompli?” Yukino pretended to be cool so as not to get caught up in his pace, but after that, Aoshima, the mean and tsundere fake boyfriend, continued to toy with Yukino, holding her hand in the elevator so the other employees wouldn’t notice, forcibly inviting her on a holiday date, and suddenly showing kindness…
Regarding the first broadcast, Watanabe said, “I hope that everyone will enjoy it and have a heart-pounding Saturday!”, while Nakamura said, “The atmosphere on set was incredibly high, and we’re working together with the staff to make it. I hope you’ll feel that energy! I want everyone to have lots of heart-pounding moments this summer.”
In addition, ahead of the first broadcast, new heart-throbbing photos of Aoshima and Yukino, who is at his mercy, will be revealed for the first time. What will Aoshima do when Yukino is confused and asks, “What are you doing…?” at work? This series is also popular for featuring heart-throbbing scenes that all girls long for in every episode. Let’s take a look at the photos and imagine what kind of mischief Aoshima will unleash in the first episode, which marks the beginning of an upheaval.
