Yuzu sings “Eiko no Hakken” with students at Wajima High School, which was damaged in the Noto Peninsula earthquake! Broadcast on “SONGS”

■Why does Yuzu’s music give us the push we need? What is the encouraging song that gave Yuzu the push they needed?

Yuzu will appear on “SONGS” on July 18th.

The duo have released songs that encourage and motivate many people, including “Eiko no Hashiba,” “Niji,” “Uta Yell,” and “Beautiful.” In addition, when large-scale disasters such as the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Kumamoto Earthquake occurred, they visited the affected areas and delivered songs of encouragement to those who were affected and those working there. In this program, the theme is “Why does Yuzu’s music give us encouragement?” and the appeal of Yuzu’s music will be explored.

In April, the Yuzu duo visited Wajima High School in Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture, which was severely damaged by the Noto Peninsula earthquake. Hoping to “inspire even a little” the students who were unable to lead normal lives due to the disaster, the duo held a live concert in the gymnasium. They performed “Tomo ~Tabidachi no Toki~,” a song they created in response to the Great East Japan Earthquake, and the performance was introduced on “Live Yell 2024” (broadcast on May 4).

This time, “SONGS” will interview the students of Wajima High School again. We will deliver the current voices of students who were encouraged by the live performance and students who have found new goals, and we will also get close to the thoughts of the two members of Yuzu that could not be fully expressed in “Live Yell”. There will also be a special broadcast of the video of “Natsuiro” and “Eiko no Hashi” that they sang together with the students of Wajima High School during the encore of the live performance.

In the SONG playlist section, they introduce “the cheer songs that gave the two Yuzu members a push.” Yuujin Kitagawa selects Mr.Children’s “Owari Naki Tabi” and Koji Iwasawa selects Tsuyoshi Nagabuchi’s “Myself,” both of which are masterpieces by respected senior artists. Yo Oizumi, the program’s director, and the two Yuzu members discuss what “music that gives people a push” is.

In the studio performance, they will perform “Chururi,” a song about the importance of everyday life, and “Zukan,” a song that gives the courage to take “one more step.”
