■The participants performed their best haiku one after the other! A challenger with no rank defeated a master-level poet in a shocking upset, causing screams in the studio!
On July 11th, “Pre-Battle!!” (MBS/TBS) will air a summer special with a haiku theme! The summer title match “Entei-sen” will be aired.
Haiku were solicited from 280 people who had previously been awarded the “talented” rating on the show, and the readers of the 20 selected haiku will compete in a grand studio battle for the top spot.
In addition to the familiar two, Kento Senga (Kis-My-Ft2) and Wataru Yokoo (Kis-My-Ft2), Junki Kono (JO1) will be competing in the title match for the first time. Keep an eye on the performance of the artists.
■The theme of the haiku is “Favorite tourist spot”
The theme of the summer title match “Engei Sen” is “Favorite Tourist Spots.” Each contestant freely chooses the tourist spot they want to write about and enters. The first stage is divided into five blocks based on the area of the tourist spot they wrote about, and the second stage is where the winners of each block compete. Each contestant must prepare two poems that they think are the best for the time being.
The Kanto/Koshinetsu Block was the high-level block with the most entries from Meijin and scholarship students. Several Eternal Meijin players will clash head-on. As the Tokyo metropolitan area has many famous tourist spots, a fierce battle will unfold from the start.
The “Kansai/Chugoku/Shikoku Block” was the most competitive area with the most entries. Will a master or a scholarship student, or an unranked challenger, win this popular block filled with “tourist spots that make you want to write about them”?
Furthermore, each block is sure to be a fierce battle, with the Kyushu/Okinawa Block containing many of the country’s most popular resorts and hot spring areas, the Chubu Block having the smallest number of entries but featuring both masters and former title match winners, and the Hokkaido/Tohoku Block, where special eternal master Tomio Umezawa has made his long-awaited entry.
The 20 contestants are all talented people who could win. Umezawa, who wants to show his true strength as a champion, is the favorite, as is Yokoo Wataru (Kis-My-Ft2), who has won the title match twice. Senga Kento (Kis-My-Ft2), a 9th dan master who is on a roll after winning the “Shunkosen 2024”, is also full of energy.
In addition, there will be a large gathering of talented players who have won title matches, such as Meijin 9-dan Yoko Moriguchi and scholarship student 2-grade Ei Morisako. And this time, fresh faces such as Sho Hasumi (Dow 90000), Kazuya Shimasawa (New York), and Junki Kono (JO1), who are making their first appearance in a title match, will also show their talents and threaten the top players.
The title match was as expected, and the instructor, Itsuki Natsui, also praised the masterpieces one after another! A challenger with no rank beat a master-level player in a shocking upset, and the participants screamed in despair…!
Who will win the biggest title match in the show’s history, “Entei Sen 2024”?
