B’z guitarist Matsumoto Takahiro will make his first appearance on “SONGS” on July 25th.
B’z continues to break many records, with 50 consecutive singles debuting at number one and CD sales totaling over 83 million copies. This time, the program focused on the various solo projects that Matsumoto has been working on energetically in parallel with his activities with B’z.
This program will unravel the history of Taka Matsumoto, who continues to be active worldwide, including his work on “#1090 ~Million Dreams~,” known as the theme song of a long-running music TV program, his work as part of the super band TMG (TAK MATSUMOTO GROUP), which he formed in 2004 with Jack Blades (Ba&Vo) of America’s leading rock band Night Ranger and Eric Martin, the frontman of MR.BIG, and his Grammy Award-winning album released in 2010 with world-renowned jazz guitarist Larry Carlton.
During the studio talk, TAKURO, the guitarist of rock band GLAY, who has been friends with Matsumoto for 25 years, explained the appeal of Matsumoto Takahiro’s guitar playing to Yo Oizumi, the program’s director, who was nervous about meeting him for the first time. Under the title “TAKURO’s Top 5 Best Guitar Sounds,” TAKURO will thoroughly dissect the appeal of Matsumoto Takahiro’s guitar playing through songs selected by himself.
Furthermore, Oizumi was also excited to hear what Matsumoto himself had to say about winning the Grammy Award for the first time. Matsumoto, who heard the news of the nomination while he was recording with B’z, told us what he first thought, and his unknown feelings about the Grammy Award.
The studio performance will feature a wonderful guitar medley of “#1090 ~Million Dreams~” through “BATTLEBOX,” which will connect his early hits to his latest songs, and he will also feature guest vocals from LiSA and Leon Shinhama to perform a special medley of popular songs that Matsumoto himself has been influenced by.
