Inagaki, Kusanagi, and Katori investigate urban legends! When asked "Is it true that you take a lot of denim with you on your trips?" Kusanagi reveals a shocking truth

■ “I’m so scared I can’t sleep in my hotel room.” “To do that, I bring familiar objects from my house and put them on the sofa in my hotel room.”

“Nanani Underground Abema” is a regular Abema program featuring Inagaki Goro, Kusanagi Tsuyoshi (the official spelling of “nagi” is the old-style character for “bow” with the character for “front” and “sword”), and Katori Shingo.

Episode 33, which aired on July 14th at 8pm, follows on from episode 32, and features guests urban legend YouTuber Naokiman, I Want to Drink Milk Tea, whose videos have been viewed over 100 million times, and Mitsurou Sato, whose books have sold over 300,000 copies in total.

Titled “Urgent Alert! The Latest Urban Legends of 2024 That Aren’t Just Someone Else’s Problems,” the second part of the series delves deep into a variety of intriguing urban legends, such as “Will something terrible happen on Earth in 2025?”, “Will AI dramatically increase demand for humans?”, and “Was Tokyo’s underground built to defend the capital?”

Then, in the studio, they suddenly decided to investigate the truth of the urban legends about Inagaki, Kusanagi, and Katori. First, Naokiman asked, “Is it true that Inagaki-san has been carrying a mirror and a comb since he was an elementary school student?” Inagaki immediately replied, “This is an undeniable fact.”

Inagaki continued, “When I was in the fourth grade of elementary school, I used to carry a portable brush that fits in my pocket here (in my chest pocket).” He calmly commented, “It’s nothing legendary,” and “It’s business as usual,” exciting the studio.

Next, Sato asked, “Is it true that you carry mayonnaise around here (in your breast pocket) and eat it by dipping it in grass on the roadside?” When Katori joked about this episode, “It’s true,” the studio erupted in excitement.

Katori revealed how his love of mayonnaise led to a job, saying, “When I was a kid, I really did carry it around with me.” “After doing that, I ended up carrying mayonnaise as Shingo Mama (the character Katori plays on the variety show “Sata☆Suma”) and I started doing mayonnaise commercials.”

Finally, Milk Tea Drinking Asked, “Is it true that Kusanagi-san brings five pairs of jeans on a two-night trip?” Kusanagi replied, “Sometimes I bring five pairs of jeans for a two-night trip,” and Katori then spoke about the reason for this.

“I’m so scared I can’t sleep in my hotel room,” she explained. “That’s why I bring familiar objects from my house and put them on the sofa in my hotel room.”

In response to this, Kusanagi explained his reasons, saying, “I don’t feel at ease if I don’t have my own things,” and “It makes me feel uneasy.”

Inagaki, who had been listening to the exchange, also revealed a little-known secret about Kusanagi, saying, “When we travel together, it takes a really long time to get through security at the airport,” and “He even travels for one night in a suitcase,” which got the studio excited.
