ME:I appears poolside in full summer style! New Docomo commercial begins airing & 3 web movies also released

The new TV commercial for Docomo’s new smartphone “Galaxy Z Flip6” starring ME:I, “Galaxy Z Flip6 with ME:I”, will start airing on July 17th.

Three web movies will also be released, showing ME:I members split into three teams and relay-style decorating the cover screens (wallpapers) of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and giving them as gifts.

This commercial, which is the second collaboration between ME:I and Docomo, was shot by a pool in midsummer with the theme of ME:I’s summer vacation, which is left behind by the Galaxy Z Flip6 equipped with a 50MP camera. ME:I members appear in outfits that are full of summery vibes, and use the Galaxy Z Flip6’s “auto zoom” function to capture their summer memories.

Additionally, the commercial song is “Hi-Five,” the title song of ME:I’s second single, which is released for the first time in this commercial, further enhancing the summery feel.

As this was their second commercial shoot, the ME:I members seemed a bit more relaxed than last time, perhaps because they had gotten used to the set.

Although the shoot took place under the hot sunshine, the commercial shows the girls smiling and looking happy, as if they were on a private trip to the pool.

After the shoot, they were interviewed on the theme of “summer vacation,” which is the theme of the commercial. When asked what they would like to do or what memories they have of “summer vacation,” they answered with joy, “I want to put on masks with all the members and go to a festival!” and “We went to the beach for the shoot, but even in private, I want to jump in with everyone in swimsuits!”

■ Commercial Story
The commercial starts with the leader MOMONA opening the Galaxy Z Flip6 and looking into the screen with KEIKO and KOKONA by the pool. Next, ME:I members are shown smiling and taking a summery group photo with items that liven up the summer, such as watermelon, ice cream, cold drinks, and popsicles.

AYANE, RINON, COCORO, and RAN took on the challenge of taking photos in the dance poses they performed in the title song of their second single, “Hi-Five.” Using the auto zoom function of the Galaxy Z Flip6, they zoomed out and successfully took a photo with the entire body of the four of them in the frame.

MIU, SHIZUKU, TSUZUMI, and SUZU are shown frolicking under the parasol, shouting “Cheese!”, zooming in using the auto-zoom function to capture their summer memories on the Galaxy Z Flip 6. At the end, all the ME:I members huddle together on the cover screen of the Galaxy Z Flip 6, and MOMONA folds the Galaxy Z Flip 6 again, ending the commercial.

■Making-of video showing the closeness between ME:I members has been released!
ME:I arrived on set in outfits that were full of summery vibes. Once everyone was gathered, they greeted in perfect unison, “Click! It’s ME:I.” When filming began, they seemed relaxed as they discussed and filmed, and when they spotted the making-of camera, they commented with smiles about their enthusiasm for the shoot, saying things like, “We did some graphic photography,” “I’m really looking forward to filming in the middle of summer,” and “I applied lots of sunscreen so I wouldn’t get sunburned.”

In between takes, they also practiced how to say “Galaxy Z Flip6 with ME:I” together, and during filming they praised each other by saying “So cute,” giving us a glimpse of the closeness between the members.

At the end, leader MOMONA spoke on behalf of the group, saying, “Thank you so much for being in such a wonderful set for so long,” and the other members followed suit. When they received a bouquet of sunflowers, a flower that symbolizes summer, they looked grateful and happy in front of the CM staff and the camera.

Q: How do you feel after finishing filming the Galaxy Z Flip6 commercial?
RINON:This time we shot in a variety of sets, including a pool like this, and it felt like we were all on a private summer vacation, so we had a really fun time filming!
TSUZUMI:This time, we filmed using a device called the Galaxy Z Flip6, which folds up? It’s been my dream to touch one of those foldable devices, so I’ve often seen them circulating in videos, and it was a lot of fun to be able to hold it and film it!
Q: What are the key points to take selfies using the new “Auto Zoom” feature?
SUZU:The Galaxy Z Flip6 has an auto zoom function, so when you’re taking selfies with your group friends, even if you think, “Oh, one of us isn’t in the picture…”, the camera will adjust the angle of view, so I highly recommend it!
Q: When you heard that the commercial’s image is “summer vacation,” what do you want to do or what memories do you have?
KEIKO:During summer vacation, I always love to go to spots where I can get a really bad tan. I mean, I love it…I love going to pools like this and having fun, and I never put on sunscreen properly, so when I meet my friends after summer vacation, they say, “Who are you!?”
SHIZUKU:Speaking of summer, I love festivals, but until now I’ve only ever been to festivals with my family, and all the members are selling things at the festival…I want to wear masks and go with everyone!
COCORO:We went to the beach for a shoot, but I’d love to go there privately too. We weren’t allowed in at the time, so some members might not want to go in, but I’d love to go in with everyone, all in swimsuits.
