Aqua, the main character of the TV anime “Oshi no Ko”, appears on the cover of the special edition of “anan” issue 2407 (on sale July 24). Although dressed as a nobleman in a black outfit, Aqua’s expression is somewhat sad and fleeting. The illustration expresses Aqua’s complex feelings as he struggles with love and hate.

When the TV anime series Oshi no Ko aired in April 2023, it instantly became a social phenomenon. Aqua, the older twin brother, and Ruby, the younger sister, follow in their mother’s footsteps and become an idol, as they enter the entertainment industry to find out the truth behind the death of their mother, who was a top idol.

The second season, which began airing in July, is a “2.5-dimensional stage version” and features Aqua and Ruby, as well as familiar characters from the first season such as Kana Arima and Akane Kurokawa, as well as many new characters from the second season, as the story progresses towards the stage performance.

From the production staff, Hiramaki Daisuke, who has been director since the first season, and character designer Hirayama Kanna will appear and reveal the tricks and attention to detail that are unique to animation.

Four cast members appeared: Otsuka Takeo, who plays Aqua, Ikoma Yurie, who plays Ruby, Han Megumi, who plays Arima Kana, and Iwami Manaka, who plays Kurokawa Akane. They talked extensively about the highlights of the second season and their feelings for the characters they play.

We also interviewed the special unit GEMN, who performed the opening theme, and Hitsuji Kamigaku, who performed the ending theme. We get a glimpse into their enthusiasm for their first participation in “Oshi no Ko.”
