Number_i enjoys a Hawaiian-like summer in McDonald’s new commercial! “I really felt the summer” (Jinguji Yuuta)

■ “I haven’t done anything summer-like yet, so I feel like I’ve done something summer-like early on.” (Sho Hirano)

McDonald’s new TV commercials starring Number_i, “So Hawaiian Burgers” and “So Hawaiian Side Menu”, will begin airing on July 23rd.

McDonald’s is holding its annual Hawaii campaign to liven up the summer. This year, with the keyword “So Hawaiian,” seven Hawaiian-themed products (four new products and three renewed products) will be released.

In addition to the new product “Chopped Potatoes & Beef Black Pepper Cream Cheese,” the sauces for the popular summer-only limited-time burgers “Cheese Loco Moco” and “Garlic Shrimp,” as well as the morning-only “Cheese Loco Moco Muffin” have also been revamped.

In addition to the burgers, a Hawaiian lineup that will make you feel like “this is so Hawaiian,” including a new side dish “Shaka Shaka Potatoes Hawaiian BBQ Flavor” and new drinks “McFizz(R)/McFloat(R) Blue Hawaii 2024,” will be sold for a limited time at McDonald’s stores nationwide from July 24th.

In the new TV commercial, Number_i will make its first appearance in a McDonald’s burger commercial. Sho Hirano, Yuta Jinguji, and Yuta Kishi are shown enjoying the summer with Hawaiian products, saying, “It’s so Hawaiian.”

In the “Very Hawaiian Burgers” episode, the thick beef “Cheese Loco Moco,” the crunchy “Garlic Shrimp,” and the voluminous “Crunchy Sliced Potatoes & Beef Black Pepper Cream Cheese” are served under the blue sky and blue sea that give off a very Hawaiian summer vibe, and the deliciousness and charm of these burgers are refreshingly appealing.

In addition, the X Campaign will be held, where 100 people will be selected by lottery to win a 1,000 yen McDonald’s card. For details, see the campaign page.

■ Filming episodes
◇Number_i appears on a sandy beach that gives off a Hawaiian vibe, with Kishi being the mood maker again today!
Number_i’s Hirano, Kishi, and Jinguji appeared on the set, where the liberating feeling of “Summer Hawaii” was recreated, and while feeling the white sand on the beach, they finished getting ready, getting excited and saying, “Wow, this is really Hawaii!” and “It’s Hawaii!”

First, they started shooting with a scene where the three of them walked side by side on the beach. In the scene where Kishi removes his sunglasses with a serious look on his face, Hirano laughed at Kishi’s slightly tense expression, saying, “You’re too serious! (laughs),” and Jinguji immediately responded, showing the two of them overflowing with “Kishi love.” As always, the shoot proceeded in a friendly atmosphere full of smiles.

◇ Hirano was thrilled by the taste of the cheese loco moco and said, “It’s like Hawaii!”
In the scene where he eats a burger on the beach and murmurs, “It’s Hawaii…”, Hirano is thrilled with the taste of the Cheese Loco Moco. He gently receives the burger and looks at it closely, saying, “It has a patty, cheese, egg… and vegetables. It looks like a Big Mac(R) but it’s different,” and seems to be very interested in the Cheese Loco Moco, which is modeled after the famous Hawaiian dish, “Loco Moco.”

During the long-awaited eating scene, she was seen laughing at one point, perhaps because she was savoring the taste, but she also expressed her enjoyment with a big smile, saying, “It really feels like Hawaii!”

◇Enjoy the gentle tones and have a great time discussing the ukulele!
In the scene where they were relaxing on the beach and listening to the sound of the ukulele, the three of them were interested in Mike’s ukulele, which produced a gentle melody. In their free time, the four of them also got together and enjoyed talking about ukuleles.

After that, the filming went smoothly and the take was OK, but the three members of Number_i looked a little disappointed, saying, “We wish we could have played it too.”

◇Hirano and Kishi are having fun while Jinguji is eating seriously!
When the scene came where Jinguji was eating chopped potatoes and beef with black pepper cream cheese, Hirano smiled and said, “Jin gets it done in one go (laughs).”

Jinguji showed a troubled look on his face, saying, “Don’t pressure me (laughs),” but still managed to show off a smart eating scene. When Hirano and Kishi, who were in charge of the frolicking in the background, repeatedly performed over-the-top actions with mischievous expressions, Jinguji again gave a wry smile and said, “You two are going too far! (laughs).”

Hirano himself looked a little remorseful, saying, “It would be bad if we caused a NG (laughs),” but Kishi made everyone laugh by saying, “The acting was perfect! The rest is up to you all!”

◇ Genuine reaction to Hawaiian barbecue-inspired fries: “Delicious!”
In the scene where they were eating the new Shaka Shaka Potatoes Hawaiian Barbecue flavour, the three of them were excited as they stood side by side shaking the paper bags.

When they took a bite of the potatoes, which were seasoned with fragrant spices reminiscent of a Hawaiian barbecue, Jinguji, Hirano, and Kishi all had good reactions, saying, “Mmm, this is delicious!”, “This is tasty!”, and “That’s great!”

The three of them reminisced about visiting a McDonald’s in Hawaii when they went there together, saying “we’d love to go again,” and got excited about eating at McDonald’s as a “leisure activity in Hawaii.”

■Number_i Interview
Q: How do you feel after finishing filming the new TV commercial?
Jinguji Temple:It was fun. It really felt like summer.
shore:I really felt like it was summer…and since the shoot was long, I really felt like it was sunny.
Hirano:We haven’t done anything summer-like yet, so it felt like we were doing something summer-like early.
shore:We ran on the beach.
Jinguji:It was a “private beach,” so it was completely private (laughs).
Hirano:There were way too many staff for a private beach though (laughs).
Jinguji Temple:That’s true (laughs). I felt like they were “watching over me.”

Q: Please tell us your impressions of tasting Meccha Hawaiian Burgers and a situation in which you would like to enjoy this product.
Hirano:I had the cheese loco moco… it was so Hawaiian! It made me want to eat it in Hawaii, on the beach. It was so delicious that I would love to have it in a summer setting.
shore:The garlic shrimp I had was so authentic that it reminded me of the taste I had in Hawaii. The shrimp was so plump, and the crispy batter made it even more appetizing. Speaking of which, I’ve ordered the Shrimp Filet-O-R 95% of the time in my life at McDonald’s.
Hirano:A must-have for shrimp lovers at McDonald’s! The difference in texture seems great.
Jinguji Temple:I had the Shredded Potatoes & Beef with Black Pepper Cream Cheese, and I was really surprised when I ate it… it had potatoes in it. Up until now they were separate, so being able to taste them together was really innovative and delicious. I thought it was pretty mild, but then the spices came in just right, and I was addicted to eating it. I was so happy!

Q: If you had one day of free time in Hawaii, how would you spend that day? What would your ideal trip to Hawaii be like?
shore:I want to enjoy nature.
Hirano:I want to try some marine sports!
Jinguji Temple:I want to see the fish! Let’s dive.
shore:Snorkeling is great. It’s so beautiful and the sea is so blue.
Hirano:But you three went to McDonald’s before, right? In Hawaii.
shore:I went there! I went there in Hawaii!
Hirano:So let’s just do it.
Jinguji:I went there the day I arrived.
Hirano:Stretch, dive, get out…
shore:I’m getting hungry.
Hirano:After that we went to McDonald’s and finished the day.

Q: The commercial says “Summer is so Hawaiian.” What summer staples do you think make “Summer is so ___?”
Jinguji:“Summer is all about T-shirts.”
Hirano:Of course. There aren’t many people wearing sweatshirts in the summer (laughs).
Jinguji:That’s true (laughs). Lately, I’ve been thinking that the only variation left is T-shirts.
Hirano:Being fashionable is difficult.
Jinguji:That’s why I’m looking, wondering if there’s anything.
Hirano:For me, “Summer is wonderful.” Isn’t it wonderful after all? Memories from childhood or school days tend to be about summer, don’t they? Don’t club activities somehow make you feel like you’re young? Ah, I want to go see the fireworks!
shore:I say, “Summer is cold after all.” The reason is that I feel like saying, “It’s hot!” Isn’t it hard to adjust the temperature when you go home and go to sleep? Isn’t it cold when you wake up in the morning with the air conditioner on?
Jinguji:Isn’t it too cold? (laughs)
shore:Is it just me? I’m sure everyone has had this experience (laughs). It’s like if you’re not careful, you can catch a cold even in the summer. I want people to be careful.

Q: Please give a message to everyone who will watch the new TV commercial.
Hirano:I had the honor of appearing in a new commercial for Meccha Hawaiian Burgers!
shore:Thick beef cheese loco moco and plump garlic shrimp.
Jinguji:A hearty bowl of chopped potatoes and beef with black pepper cream cheese… so Hawaiian! What’s more, Shaka Shaka Potatoes Hawaiian BBQ flavor will be available for a limited time only!
shore:It’s so Hawaiian!
Hirano:Available at McDonald’s restaurants nationwide from Wednesday, July 24th.
All:Please enjoy!
