JO1’s Junki Kono prays for a hit at a power spot with Minami-Camp Yamazato! “What are you doing on Saturday!?” Drive-in special broadcast

JO1 member Kono Junki will appear on the Kansai TV/Fuji TV program “What are you doing on Saturday?”, which will be broadcast from 8:30 on July 20th.

This program is a lifestyle information variety show that delivers the latest topics with the concept of “Helping you make your weekend more enjoyable!”, and on July 20th, the program’s MC, Yamasato Ryota (Nankai Candies), will air a driving segment called “Selfish Drive! Yama-chan, come along for a bit!” in which he caters to the “selfish” desires of popular celebrities.

The guest this time is Junki Kono, who appears in the drama “Anoko no Kodomo” that is broadcast every Tuesday from 11pm on the Kansai TV/Fuji TV network. Kono, who is active as the main vocalist of a popular global boy band, will visit the spots he wants to go to now.

First, the two headed to Ono Terasaki Shrine, a power spot recommended by Yamazato, where the gods of entertainment, work, and learning are enshrined. At the shrine, where Kiyoshi Atsumi, who played Tora-san in “Otoko wa Tsurai yo,” is said to have made a wish, Kono prayed for JO1’s further success. After worshiping, the two drew fortune slips, and Yamazato was shocked by the surprising result, saying, “The one I was most afraid of has come…”

The next destination is a popular bento shop that Kono describes as “the best thing in life” – fried chicken. At the store, which he frequented with the other members when he first debuted, he savored the nostalgic fried chicken. As he was excited to taste it for the first time in a long time, Yamazato asked Kono what he was “looking forward to right now,” revealing a surprising side of him that is unlike that of an artist.

Lastly, Kono requested a private sauna in the great outdoors. The two, who had become close friends through the location shoot, talked about the dreams they wanted to achieve in the future while working up a sweat and diving into a waterfall basin deep in the forest. Kono, who was in good shape, couldn’t help but exclaim, “It feels good! It’s amazing!” and his excitement soared. As proof of their closure, the two decided to film a TikTok video together at the end.

Kono has often appeared in the studio of “What are you doing on Saturday?!”, but this was her first time appearing on location. After the drive with Yamazato, she looked back with satisfaction, saying, “At first I was nervous, but halfway through it was just fun. I thought, ‘I can do a location shoot like this!’ (laughs).”

She continued, “I had a really good time at every place! I was especially able to make a wish at Ono Terasaki Shrine, and Yama-chan bought me a lucky charm, so I was happy to have more important things in my collection.” She smiled and said, “Something really surprising happened at the shrine! I was able to prove that I have good luck, so I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds for me.”

Finally, he said, “I would be happy if you could watch Yama-chan and I go on a simply fun journey! We also relax in the sauna, so please look forward to a rare glimpse of the two of us!” He then blushed and asked, “We’ve become good friends, so can I continue to call you ‘Yama-chan’ (laughs)?”

While they were alone in the car, Kono recreated the gestures that would make her heart flutter if she were to do them while driving, and they had a great time singing her favorite driving songs. Be sure to check out the show.
