Shizuka Kudo performs a hard cover of the ending theme “Get Wild” from “City Hunter” on NHK’s “The Covers”

■What is Kudo Shizuka’s favorite anime, who often watches it at home?

Shizuka Kudo has been confirmed to appear on NHK’s “The Covers” which will air in August.

As it is the summer of the Olympic year, the program will feature “80s anime songs” that are popular worldwide. Together with Shizuka Kudo, who loves anime, we will explore the evolution and appeal of Japanese anime songs.

The anime song cover sung by Shizuka Kudo is the ending theme of “City Hunter,” which will be released in a live-action version in 2024 and has been a hot topic worldwide, TM NETWORK’s “Get Wild.” Kudo talks about her impressions of the song, which was released in 1987 when she made her solo debut, and its appeal. The world of Shizuka Kudo’s “Get Wild,” sung hard with a rock arrangement, is a must-see.

Kudo will also be singing “Blue Velvet,” the ending theme to the hit anime “Dragon Ball GT.” The lyrics were written by Kudo herself under the name Airi. The rock number was composed by SharanQ’s Hatake, and will be performed with a special makeover produced by Kudo herself.

Also, from the NHK archives, there will be plenty of 80s anime song videos on air. Anri’s “CAT’S EYE”, Yoshimi Iwasaki’s “Touch”, Mari Iijima’s “Do You Remember Love?”… Kudo and MCs Lily Franky and Moka Kamishiraishi will be humming along to the hit anime songs of the past, creating a great atmosphere.

Kudo will also perform his latest anime song, “Maru,” the ending theme for “Ojarumaru” currently airing on NHK E-Tele. Anime is also something Kudo often watches at home, so keep an eye out for his “favorite anime.”
