It has been revealed that Yokohama Ryusei will be starring in the movie “Shoutai.”

This is a suspenseful escape entertainment film directed by Michihito Fujii, director of “10 Years Left to Live.” Ryusei Yokohama plays Kaburagi, a wanted criminal with five faces who was arrested as a suspect in a murder case that shocked the whole of Japan and sentenced to death, but escaped and continues to hide and flee all over Japan.

It had been announced that Yoshioka Riho, Morimoto Shintaro (SixTONES), Yamada Anna, and Yamada Takayuki would be playing the people Kaburagi met during his time on the run, but in the super trailer and super teaser visuals released so far, the face of the main character Kaburagi has not been visible, and the Shoutai of the lead actor playing the main character Kaburagi has become a hot topic on social media.

Yokohama Ryusei, who takes on the five-faced wanted criminal Kaburagi head-on, has a personal and professional relationship with director Fujii, and this will be their third time teaming up for a feature film, following “Blue Homecoming” and “Village.”

The trailer, released along with the announcement of his starring role, shows Kaburagi (Yokohama Ryusei) continuing his fugitive journey while changing his appearance, as well as those who encounter him in various parts of Japan.

Kaburagi changes his appearance wherever he goes and hides, building relationships with Sayaka (Yoshioka Riho), Kazuya (Morimoto Shintaro), Mai (Yamada Anna), and others he meets in each place.

Sayaka believes in Kaburagi, Kazuya suspects him of being the murderer, and Mai falls in love with Kaburagi; each person has a different impression of Kaburagi.

Detective Matanuki (Yamada Takayuki), who is pursuing Kaburagi, asks Sayaka and the others, “Didn’t you realize what he really is?” and corners Kaburagi with a firm resolve, saying, “He’s a murderer.”

Also noteworthy is Kaburagi’s appearance, which changes as he lives in hiding, and the various expressions shown by Yokohama as a variety of characters.

The movie “Shoutai” will be released nationwide from November 29th.

■Comment from Director Michihito Fujii
Since I started making films 18 years ago, I have had many wonderful encounters.
Among them, meeting the actor Yokohama Ryusei was a very big one for me.
We both went through periods of hardship when we weren’t successful, but we encouraged each other and spent a lot of time together, which is how we developed our relationship today.
“Let’s make a movie starring Ryusei!”
With that as my motto, I have been running ahead with all my might.
Four years ago, the project was launched to produce the film “Seiittai” as the first of these memorable projects.
The original author, Somei-sensei, is the same generation as me, so we hit it off the day we met.
We are truly grateful that Professor Somei spared so much time for us and that we were able to talk at length about the work.
The thoughts of the producer who proposed the original story, the beloved cast, and the staff over the last four years have been culminated in this film.
I would like as many people as possible to watch this film, especially now when connections between people are becoming weaker.
Please look forward to the release.

Shoutai is a work that I feel very attached to, as I set my goals together with the director.
Life is not simple.
People deceive and trap others, mistakes happen, things are unreasonable, and “justice” often does not prevail.
Although the circumstances may be different, I think everyone has felt this way.
Yet he lives by faith.
I would be happy if people could feel something from the way he lived his life, and I would like people to see his true identity at the theater and find out why he escaped from prison and what his true intentions were.
