“Tiny Desk Concerts” is a music content that was launched online by the American public broadcaster NPR (National Public Radio) in 2008 and created a boom around the world. Artists literally perform at “small desks in the NPR office.” With an organic sound and intimate live atmosphere born from the innovative concept, it quickly grew into a popular content across the United States, and the lineup now includes many big names around the world, including Taylor Swift and BTS.
Fujii Kaze appeared on the Japanese version’s first broadcast in March, and his stunning performance attracted a lot of attention both in Japan and overseas. Regular broadcasts will start in May, and yama will be the next artist to appear, following KIRINJI and Kimishima Haruka.
Yama is a mysterious masked singer who appeared on the music scene like a comet with the smash hit “Haru wo Tsugeru” released digitally in 2020. With a uniquely Japanese musicality rooted in Vocaloid songs and a transparent, heart-touching singing voice, she instantly captivated Japan’s digital natives. Since then, she has created enthusiastic fans overseas with theme songs for popular anime such as “SPY×FAMILY” and “Mobile Suit Gundam: Mercury Witch.”
This time, he led a special group of eight musicians and choruses led by Handa Akimichi (Key), and performed a wonderful performance at the NHK office in Shibuya, Tokyo, breathing new life into his own music with an arrangement exclusive to “tiny desk.”
